ARTIST
i've been doing art since my chubby baby fingers could grip around a triangle crayola. & since, i've never stopped. art is a fundamental totem of my life and my being- it holds me up. created support when i had none... allows me space when i need some.

ART HISTORY
my parents wanted to foster my love for art, so they enrolled me in waldorf school for preschool and preK. waldorf style learning was beautiful: so much happened in nature, the flourishing world of inspiration, and within the school walls, we took learning down a different path. i spent most of my time painting, sculpting, playing pretend with my friends, helping to make bread and soup- all under 6!
as i grew older & switched to Catholic school, i left wide inspiration behind, and focused in on a dream: i wanted to become a fashion designer.
my fashion design dreams & drawing instinct kept me arting for all of my time in school- as i went through 1st-3rd grade at Catholic school, when i returned to Waldorf education for one year, and even as i wrote & illustrated a presentation to my parents on "why i should go to public school."
i succeeded in switching into public education for 5th grade. and in 6th, my art teacher opened my eyes to the public ART SCHOOL we have in our system. she encouraged me to apply, helped me create my portfolio, and sent me off to Miller South.

ART EDUCATION
at Miller South, i entered the art program excited. in it, we explored art history for the first time in my educational career. we explored many different mediums i hadn't before; along with acrylic/tempura or watercolor paintings, we added oils, paper layering, 3D basics... we also created art WITHIN the school! miller was full of murals; playbill images on the lockers for the theater students, rainbow stairs, and more. we painted sets. we learned artistic theory; design principles. foundations.

i had 2 years at miller south, and from that school, i was pushed to turn to the next art option- firestone's akron school for the arts program; the one public art program in akron.

at firestone, i began a true immersion in art ed. two art classes during semester- drawing, painting, portfolio foundations, 2D, 3D, printing, graphic design, photography, AP portfolio, IB portfolio. IB is International Baccalaureate, the program i took side-by-side with ASA.

by the end of my time in ASA, i felt well versed in almost every medium, i had an education in the principles of art, i had explored all kinds of different methods and i had piles of work to show for it, including my senior portfolio, which i had Shown.

OUTSIDE OF ART

my name is gabe minson. i'm a 21 year old artist & akronite & lifelong learner. basically, i chase a lot of paths, do a lot of things, define myself by very little.
some of the things i love in this life are good food, good friends, good company and conversations... i like to talk about the world, philosophy, development, mental illness, astrology, art!
